Now here are ten useful tips of advice from a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a personal injury in Los Angeles, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com  and learning how we can assist you.
Â
Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it may have been a few hours since the accident. However, if you ever have another accident, or if itâs only been a few hours since you were hurt, hereâs what you should do from the start.
Â
First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, itâs just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.
Â
Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.
Â
Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didnât know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.
Â
Fourth, get the other driverâs information including their names, addresses, driverâs license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.
Â
Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you arenât too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you canât do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.
Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Donât decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, donât get treatment you donât need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.
Â
Seventh, call a good Los Angeles personal injury attorney as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the lawyer can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good Los Angeles personal injury attorney can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good Los Angeles personal injury lawyer can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most Los Angeles personal injury lawyers advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.
Â
Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driverâs insurance company, itâs good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your lawyer can give you the form for this.
Â
Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Donât agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.
Â
Tenth, donât pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you werenât at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

Personality Disorder and Comorbidity – The Adolescent Brain on Drugs
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by a consistent pattern of volatile emotionality, unstable relationships, impulsive and self-damaging behaviors (i.e. binge eating, sexual promiscuity, drug abuse), and repeated suicidal gestures. Psychologists who specialize in treating BPD have successfully worked with many individuals diagnosed with BPD, assisting them in building awareness regarding their emotions and decreasing harmful behaviors. However, research suggests that individuals with BPD are at an increased risk for having additional, coexisting psychiatric conditions.
For example, studies have found that between 61% and 87% of individuals diagnosed with BPD also have major depressive disorders. Similar rates have also been found for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, and eating disorders. Due to these high rates of co-occurrence, accurate psychological assessment is extremely important, as it enables an individual to receive appropriate treatment addressing all diagnoses. Thorough psychological assessments with individuals with co-occurring conditions can assist in ensuring that accurate diagnoses translates to the best comprehensive care for the individual.
Research suggests that teens may become addicted and relapse more easily than adults because their developing brains are more motivated by drug-related cues. Adolescent rats given cocaine were more likely than adults to prefer the place where they got it from, indicating higher sensitivity to drug-associated environments.
After extinguishing the drug-linked preference, a small reinstating dose rekindled that preference, but only in the adolescent rats. These results reinforce previous evidence that teen brains get stuck on drug-related stimuli more easily than adult brains and are most likely to become addicted. Cortical remodeling, how it associates reward cues to consequences, and drug exposure during adolescence may produce drug-linked associations that are extremely difficult to change, reduce, or extinguish. Adolescent addicts may require atypical strategies for drug abuse intervention such as longer treatment and substituting with different rewards such as exercise or music.

Nearly one hundred thousand people suffer traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in the United States every year that have a profound effect on their daily lives. Trauma to the head can cause the brain to bruise, bleed, tear and swell. One of the leading causes of traumatic brain injuries are motor vehicle accidents. The Forces Involved in an Automobile Collision
A head-on <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=http://www.800goldlaw.com/Motor-Vehicle-Accident-Injuries-Compensation.html>automobile collision</a> at forty-five miles per hour can cause the soft tissue of the brain to be forced against the hard bone of the skull. This forceful collision of brain against bone can cause blood vessels to tear, leading to bleeding into the brain. This bleeding into the brain produces an increase in pressure that causes the brain to swell and press against the skull causing impaired brain function or the death of brain cells. The skull does not have to be penetrated or fractured to suffer a serious brain injury.
Symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury
The symptoms of <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=http://www.800goldlaw.com/traumatic-brain-injury.html>traumatic brain injury</a> vary according to the severity of the injury and the area of the brain injured. Sit down and think about it. How smart are you? Forget about established educational systems and measuring tools. Do you know exactly how brainy are you? And this is just one aspect of your mental faculties. What about your creativity? You ability to retain and learn knowledge? What about things like rationale thought, mental focus, diligence, attentiveness and dealing with numbers? We go by day by day, without anyway of knowing how good we really are. I am not trying to instil a competitive environment into an already turbulent global environment – what I am trying to do is try to get the average consumer, the average person living in the world today to understand that they are meandering around the obstacles of life with a hefty dose of misinformation.
As people, I think it is very important to know at what level of capacity that we are operating in. Science has told us that the brain is an undiscovered phenomenon, with more than half of it unmapped and unexplained. One area of research into the brain has revealed that we are not using all of the talents that have been given to us. That is quite disturbing to know that we are not running at optimal capacity. All those years of going through school and work with only half a gas of tank? Something needed to be done and done quick and science and the personal development industry has stepped in and done quite a bit of work. What happened was that they decided that it was time that the average person had more control over the mind, especially their subconscious mind.
The discovery that the brain operates in different stages of brainwave frequencies was the first key to unlock the mystery of the mind. The second key was that each and every one of those frequency stages was associated with certain ultra states. They allowed us to think faster, be more focused, learn better, absorb even complex information or even allow us to beat stress and relax better. The applications were enormous and the medical industry really rode with it for a while – investigating the power of positive affirmation on healing and inducing the brain to improve immune systems and allow for the increased release of growth hormones.
The initial instruments that were used were quite convoluted and expensive, and the methods too complicated for normal, everyday use. It was only until much later than advancements in technology allowed for the development of subliminal CDs and binaural beats – technology that allowed people to reach into their mind and reprogramme themselves into better people. Brainwave technology and the ability to induce brainwaves in the cortical of the brain was a resounding success.
Testimonies lit their path on the internet and soon more and more people were using it to improve themselves to no end. Do not be left behind in the move towards self improvement – and it is as easy as plugging in your CD player and listening to music for 20 minutes. The embedded messages and sculptured frequency sounds will do the rest.
There are two things in this life that many people do not know about their own brain. One of them is the fact that there are two aspects of consciousness that are actively ‘aware’ on a daily basis. One of them is the conscious mind, rife with all the defences of logical thought, rational processes and critical thinking – which allow us to go through life not reacting to everything based on emotion. This job is left up entirely to the subconscious mind; a part of us since we were born that takes orders from experiences and associations to determine our reactions, our phobias and who we are as individuals.
These two form a symbiotic and separate existence – yet they cannot function without another and through the various stages of life, each aspect of these consciousnesses has taken on a role. In our early childhood, the subconscious mind took the place of educator and learner, where we as children would understand events and happenings around us through emotion and association, the two main pillars of function within the subconscious mind.
As we get older, our conscious mind began to develop the functions of critical thinking and rationale thought, which meant we were able to dissect experiences with logical thought and understand them with a detached learning. While emotion and association will always be there, the effect will not be as a strong as it was before. However, all the associations, fears and phobias (and other character developments) that has happened during childhood has retained and will pass on through adulthood as it maintains its cyclic life cycle within the brain’s subconscious memory and instruction banks.
The other thing that we do not know about our brain is that it produces patterns based on electromagnetic frequencies that sensitive equipment can pick up easily. These brainwave patterns have been found by medicine and science to be associated with several peak performances of the brain, which can include better learning, higher creativity, mental focus, relaxation, accelerated healing, growth hormone level increases. These are just some of the applications of specific brainwave frequencies and they can be evoke with entrainment technology like engineered sub sonic sound or through visual stimulation like the dream machine.
The applications within the personal development industry have been enormous and the responses to this product have reached monumental levels. Thousands of people all over the world are gaining better brain power through the use of brainwave entrainment technology. More and more research is being pumped into the brainwave entrainment technology and as of now, the most popular form of the technology is CDs that use engineered sounds embedded into relaxing music to evoke a cortical response within the brain and align the two hemispheres to a frequency that is desired.
Anyone can use this technology because of its relative affordability and the ease of application. Just look online and you can find quite a few good products to help you boost and maximise your brain power and live life like you have never done before.
Do you know that there are techniques that you can use to brain-wash yourself and others? There are many reasons why you may want to do this – you can clear any negative thoughts in your mind and become a more positive person, or you can change the mindset of others and make them follow your suggestions. This form of brain washing, whereby you communicate with yourself (or others) subtly, is known as hypnosis.
Our mind is the most powerful thing that controls our action and behavior. So, to change yourself (or others), you need to conquer the mind first. You can find out ways to do it and yield the benefits of conquering your mind.
One of the most effective ways to do this is through hypnosis, whereby you can clear away the old thoughts or beliefs from the mind and replace them with new ones. I am not asking you to look for a hypnotist and request him/her to put you in a trance and implant thoughts on you, but I am talking about self-hypnosis using the right techniques. Besides self-hypnosis, these techniques can also be used to hypnotise others secretly.
There are many self learning courses that teach hypnosis techniques and many people have used it to hypnotise themselves or others to obtain their goals. Learning Hypnosis can be the most powerful way to change your life, as using hypnosis you can change into the better person you have always desired, and also influence persons around you to do things according to your will.
Working with an experienced brain injury attorney will lessen the burden and stress of brain injury right away. Your attorney can give you an idea of what to expect from your case financially, and what you need to do today to start getting the medical bills under control. More importantly, for most brain injury patients and their loved ones, an experienced brain injury attorney understands brain injury, is aware of the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment, and works with brain injury specialists and experts. Through your attorney you will gain access to knowledge, medical care, and support which your current doctor may not be able to provide. What makes a brain injury attorney different from other personal injury attorneys
Brain injury cases are more complex than most personal injury cases. An experienced brain injury attorney understands the elusive nature of brain injury symptoms and evidence, and has ample experience dealing with the types of cases which typically cause brain injuries, including auto accidents, slip and fall, and construction accidents. Evidence
The brain is still mysterious territory, and new discoveries are made every day. Brain injury does not always appear as structural damage in medical imaging tests, even when the consequences are severe. The standard terms that doctors use to describe brain injury are confusing and can easily mislead a jury. For instance, “mild” brain injury means that the victim suffered only a brief loss of consciousness, but the actual damage to the brain can still be extensive and cause permanent disability. The evidence needed in a brain injury lawsuit is a combination of the most advanced medical testing available and documents, records, and testimony which, when used together can paint a picture of the person you were before injury and the person you have become. Compensation and your future
The cost of brain injury goes beyond acute medical care. While you are recovering you may be unable to work, meaning that the bills are racking up. Even a good recovery may not mean that you are able to meet your pre-injury earning potential. People with brain injuries who recover well enough to live normal lives often have life-long problems with short term memory, concentration, and multitasking. Others have good days followed by days of extreme fatigue making it difficult or impossible to hold down a job. Because recovery is unpredictable, calculating damages, including loss of income, the cost of rehabilitation, and long term care is a difficult and complex process. Insurance companies will try to present your prognosis in the best possible light, meaning the least expensive outcome. Can your attorney afford to represent you?
Brain injury cases are very expensive to pursue. Brain injury specialists and experts must be hired to provide evidence and prove your case. Fortunately, most attorneys handle brain injury cases on a contingency basis, so you don’t have to front the costs. However, your attorney must have the funds to cover these expenses, which can be in excess of $50,000.00.
